Noah Thorp
Sound Designer
Noah Thorp is an electronic music composer and producer. Recent projects
include designing software for live electronic improvisation, composing jazz/electronic
hybrids, and producing electronic dance music. He is the founder of the record
label Listen Labs, which specializes in cross-pollinating musical forms. Noah
has worked with the Transmission Trio, J Mage, Five Point Plan and supporting
musicians for Beck, Tom Waits, Meat Beat Manifesto, Me’shell Ndegeocello,
Antibalas, and Steve Coleman. Noah’s approach to his work with Capacitor
includes observing parallels between geological and musical structures, using
computational methods to unearth musical relationships in geological data,
and applying intuition to the discovered forms to create cogent music. This
project progresses current creative directions which include creating a new
musical language from scientific data, refining electronic dance music for
sophisticated dancers, and collaborating with experts from multiple fields
for a creative purpose.
